A Single Fund for a Common Cause The purpose of ADAPAC is to provide contributions to the election campaigns for pro-nutrition federal candidates. The ADAPAC Board of Directors determines contribution policies. The selection of candidates to receive assistance from ADAPAC is based on a variety of criteria including support for ADA issues and potential to impact policies of importance to the Association. Additionally, federal campaign finance and tax laws place limits on the use of ADAPAC funds. The increase in available ADAPAC resources over the last few election cycles has impacted tremendously the level of participation in political activities. ADAPAC is consistently recognized by both the major political parties and candidates as a significant political player.
ADAPAC provides ADA representatives in Washington, D.C. with the ability to leverage the political power of ADA members in the public policy process. Supporting political candidates provides ADA members and staff with critical access to current and future policy makers. ADAPAC works to help ADA members become involved in the political process by providing opportunities to participate on the local level with committee assistance.
